Tales from the Camino de Santiago: 800 km of Stories to Share
Our Rotary club meeting on Wednesday, 23 September, will welcome Skip and Sheila Collins, who will have just completed an 800 km walk along the Camino de Santiago.
Over lunch, Skip and Sheila will share their experiences of the journey — the challenges, memorable moments, the people they met along the way, and what the Camino has meant to them.
We warmly invite members to join us and encourage you to bring a friend or guest to enjoy the lunch, fellowship and their stories from the Camino de Santiago
It promises to be an interesting and engaging afternoon, bringing together good company, conversation and the experience of two people who have shared a remarkable journey.

Meet Skip & Sheila Collins
Skip and Sheila Collins have spent much of their lives serving others. They lived for 35 years in South Africa, where they moved to work with an international Non Governmental Organisation (NGO)
Later, Skip became a pastor, while Sheila managed their “Baby House”, caring for abandoned babies until they could be adopted through the South African adoption system. During those years, they cared for more than 60 babies.
Now full-time grandparents living in the United States to be close to their family, Skip and Sheila continue to embrace life with purpose and enthusiasm.
This year, Skip launched his YouTube channel, “If You’re Not Dead, You’re Not Done,” sharing reflections and practical advice on making the later years of life some of the best years yet.
Having just completed an 800 km walk along the Camino de Santiago, Skip and Sheila will join us to share their experiences of the journey and the stories they gathered along the way.

A Toast to Our Birthday Members
We have several Rotarians who celebrated their birthdays during the summer months, with even more birthdays to celebrate in September!
So this week, we’re setting aside our usual meeting and coming together for a special Birthday Cocktails at Divot—a warm and relaxed evening dedicated to celebrating our members and enjoying one another’s company.
It will be a lovely opportunity to catch up, share conversation, raise a glass and celebrate the wonderful members who make our Rotary family so special. Whether you are one of our birthday members or simply joining in the celebrations, we look forward to sharing this special evening with you.

The meal price of 33.00 EUR includes a Welcome Drink, shared Starters, a Main course, and two glasses of wine/beer/water.
Please note: coffee will be taken in the bar afterwards at your own cost.
We appreciate the courtesy of the many members who make their meal choice booking by the deadline, usually afternoon on Monday before the meeting. In the rare case that you are unable to do so, you must inform the SAA and come to the restaurant half an hour earlier to order your meal directly. Please be aware that this disrupts the organization of the meeting and there is a limit to last-minute orders.
No-shows will be charged the full price.

Our guest speaker RUTH FORDER has lived on The Costa Del Sol for 21 years. She established a property management company with her husband and when one of her tenants passed away, her live changed after attending his funeral. Ruth will explain what happened to change her life and the many practical differences between Spain & the UK in dealing with the deceased and their burial or cremation. In doing so, Ruth hopes to make life easier for all of us when encountering these situations.

Annual Spring Car Run
Dear Friends
The beginning of this year has been cold and wet so we were unable to plan our usual Almond Blossom Car Run. However now that the sun is shining, we decided to organise a car run Wednesday, 25th instead of our normal lunch meeting.
Although it is short notice, most of the members at our lunch meeting were happy to agree and participate. We are hoping, after the rains the sun will be shining so we should have a beautiful show of spring flowers too.
The car run will follow our usual itinerary taking us through the lovely countryside of Monda, Guaro and Tolox. We will stop for aperitivo in a beautiful location under the Mimosa trees and then return to a casual venta “Umami” for lunch.

Peter Koestenbaum and his partner Rolf Falkenberg, a recognized business leader, established the Koestenbaum Institute in 2001 to develop and market the Diamond.
Cocktail Evening
Once a month instead of the regular lunch meeting (usually on the fourth Wednesday), we shall meet for drinks in the evening.
Initially, our Cocktail Evening will be held at Divot Gastro Grill. This is an opportunity for Members to invite their friends to join us for a fun evening, meet new people and create interest in our Club. Particularly for those who find Lunch times difficult.
