Annual Fundraising walks - 'Beyond Benahavis' . Check the time of the walk you are interested in.

Saturday, 15. October 2016 - 10:00
The Annual Fundraising walk has become an unmissable tradition, combining the joys of beautiful countryside, good company, and the knowledge that others will benefit too. This year's walk will benefit Acepsa, a unique association that provides therapeutic care for people with mental disorders. Acepsa's Los Olivares has a social centre, supervised housing, and offers therapeutic and vocational training in a natural setting.

There are three walks, all starting from Benahavis Main Square, at different times on Saturday 15th October.
Please arrive at least half an hour (or even earlier) before the walk you want to come on. You can sign up for the walk and then relax in the square with a cup of coffee.

The walks  are for varying levels of ability and fitness, so that everyone can get the most from the day.
It is important to let us know you are coming and essential to book if you want the optional lunch. Registrations to:
Alan Knight 647 284 642 or

1. The Lotus Eaters Walk:  Registration 11.00;  setting off 11.15 am

2.  The Gazelles walk: Registration 10.30; setting off 11.00 am
The "Gazelles" will leave a little  earlier as they will also go round the lake,
and do an additional 2.5 km on rubble tracks, climbing up approx 200 metres for some beautiful views.

Their guides will be Jim Fox and Anders Hagner, between them providing a very presidential experience.
(They are current and past presidents of our club)

3. The Mountain Goats walk - and climb. Registration 10.00 am; setting off 10.30 am
This walk includes the lake but has a spur which is very steep,  on rough tracks, requiring walking boots or similar.
You will climb to  approx. 300+ metres for some spectacular views and good photo opportunities.
The guides for this walk are the truly amazing Martin Hall and Gwen

There is no rock climbing involved on any of the walks.
All walks will return to the main square around 1300 hours for a well-deserved lunch.

The cost will be €25 for registration (this fee goes to charity) and €25 for lunch afterwards (optional).  If you have raised sponsorship money, please bring it on the day.
Meeting Point:  Cafe Las Canas Viejas, Main Square of Benahavis
This year the lunch will be at Restaurant Eugenio Las Canas, and the menu will cost 25 Euros, to include water and wine.

What to bring

The weather can be varied so bring sunhats, sunglasses and suncream as well as something light and showerproof to cover up with. Don’t forget a bottle of water.
Comfortable shoes or trainers are essential,  and potential gazelles should bring walking boots.
The walk may go through long grass or scrub, so if you want to wear shorts consider long socks to keep your calves protected. You can keep them rolled down until needed.

As always, DYA ambulance will be on hand to help in case of emergency.
