Report from District Meeting

Report from District Meeting

By Martina Spann, who represented our President and our Club

Martina attended the meeting, the lunch and then the inauguration of the Rotary monument in Estepona. She reports:

The President of the Rotary Club of Ceuta, a very nice gentleman, gave us a cheque for over €1,120. This money was donated by membersof the Rotary Club in Ceuta, who heard Laurie's presenation about Hogar Betania last year.  I thanked him in the name of all the  members of our Club and gave a short explanation fo what Hogar Betania stands for and the projects they have.

This year's award was won by a drinking water project (purification units) for Nepal presented by the Rotary Club of Benalmádena-Torremolinos.
The meeting was very pleasant, the members of the other Clubs received me very kindly and the Clubs in our neighbouring towns (Estepona, Benahavís and San Pedro) espressed the wish to have more contact and interaction with our Club. Graciela asked to receive information on our events that we'd like to share with other Clubs (or we wish to invite someone to) like the Walk also in Spanish as many members of the other Clubs do not speak English.
In the evening I had a drink with the members representing the Rotary Club of Seville and they have very kindly invited us to a gala dinner they are organising for the 14th November.
