Ice Skating in Malaga

Saturday, 29. December 2012 - 14:00

On Monday 19th December our Club President, Lorraine, arranged a trip to the centre of nearby Málaga.  A comfortable coach collected members and friends from various places near to our urbanizations and dropped us outside the beautiful, old City Hall where we wandered past the 'Bélen'. This is a depiction of the Nativity story in a series of model scenes.

Twenty four of us then walked through the shopping centre and up Calle Larios admiring the colourful, Christmas lights.

We eventually reached the square in front of the Teatro Cervantes and ate diner in a local restaurant.
The evening's climax was to watch the exciting and slick performance by The Imperial Ice Stars of the traditional Christmas ballet - The Nutcracker.  The wonderful Russian skating troupe leaped and twirled on the tiny ice rink formed on the stage of the Teatro Cervantes. During the Finale all eleven male skaters spun at great speed, each holding a lady skater up on one outstretched arm.  Twenty-two spinning skaters on that tiny stage - What Precision!  What an evening!
